In May 1977, BMW launched the first generation of 7 series, with the factory code E23. This is the first large luxury four door sedan produced by BMW. It has three models: 728, 730 and 733i. The 733i adopts advanced fuel injection system and is equipped with in-line six cylinder engine. Since 1980, the 7 series has been equipped with electric lock, electric window and colored glass, and the 735i is equipped with automatic cleaning and wiping function of headlights. In 1981, the five speed manual transmission replaced the four speed transmission as the standard configuration. ABS options are also available. In 1982, BMW announced the four speed automatic transmission, which is optional on the 7 series. In 1983, the 745i was launched, but its displacement is not 4.5 liters, but the 732i engine is equipped with turbocharging, and the power is as high as 277 horsepower.
The E32 version was introduced in 1987. The 730i is equipped with a 3.0L engine, the 735i is equipped with a 3.5L straight 6 engine, and the 750i is equipped with a new 5.0L, 300 HP V12 engine. In 1992, the 3.0L and 4.0L V8 engines were added to the new product line (730i and 740i). All styles have an extended version of “L”, which is an additional 10cm foot space for rear passengers.
